BCP Announces Venable as Lead Sponsor of 2014 Gala


(BALTIMORE, MD - March 26, 2014) - Laura Doherty, President of the Baltimore Curriculum Project, today announced The Venable Foundation as the lead sponsor of the 2014 Are You Smarter than a BCP 5th Grader? fundraising gala, which will be held on April 25, 2014 at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum.

This year, Actor Megan Anderson, City Schools Interim CEO Tisha Edwards and WBAL-TV Co-Anchor Jason Newton will compete in a fun-filled quiz show with fifth graders from City Springs Elementary/Middle School, Hampstead Hill Academy and Wolfe Street Academy. Actor and Comedian Robert Heck will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

"BCP's annual gala provides support for mission critical services such as teacher training and curriculum development," said Laura Doherty.

"We are grateful for The Venable Foundation's continuing support."

The evening will also include dinner, drinks, a silent auction, and live music by The Giggmohr Brothers. All proceeds will benefit over 1,500 students attending BCP's neighborhood charter schools.

"The Venable Foundation is proud to continue its support of the Baltimore Curriculum Project," said Sophia Marquez-Wallace, Program Director for the Venable Foundation.

"The work that BCP does is vital to the children of Baltimore City."

Actor Megan Anderson to Compete in "Are You Smarter than a BCP 5th Grader?"


Actor Megan Anderson will join Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and City Schools Interim CEO Tisha Edwards as a contestant in the 2014 Are You Smarter than a BCP 5th Grader? Quiz Show Gala at The Lewis on April 25th.

Megan is a professional actor and mom who has been living and working in Baltimore her whole life. She is a longtime member  of the Resident Acting Company at Everyman Theatre where she has appeared in over twenty productions including Crimes of the Heart, God of Carnage, The Beaux’ Stratagem, Blackbird, Proof and the upcoming Tribes.

Megan has also worked regionally at Center Stage, Round House Theatre, Theater J, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Rep Stage, and Totem Pole Playhouse. Television/film credits include 3 seasons as Jen Carcetti on the acclaimed HBO series The Wire. She is also an audition coach and teacher, and proud mom to Zoe and Willa.
